Testimonials

FROM M.D. – “I met Gilda in 2018 while I was volunteering to tutor immigrant women in reading English. She worked for the program, a community based not-for-profit which aims to improve, empower, and invest in the lives of women in Palm Beach County, Florida. The program’s clients were immigrants from many countries and several continents. Gilda’s job involved enrolling the students and making sure that they received all the services that they needed. She handled her responsibilities with skill and grace. There is no question that her background as an immigrant and experience as a professional were key to her successful work with the students. She had kindness and patience for everyone!”

FROM M.O. – “Gilda was the person who rescued me from a hot parking lot and a life in a downward spiral by inviting me into the Women’s Circle for an interview about teaching there. (I was in the hot parking lot because I couldn’t find the school.) Talking to Gilda was comforting because she was cheery and so welcoming to me. She thought it would work out well if I sat in on a class as the assistant and indeed, she was right. The students were ambitious and diligent people who wanted to learn English as a second language.

I learned about their language quirks that came from speaking another language which was impeding their usage in English. It was an invigorating experience which was good because the teacher ultimately left and I took over the class. Nothing ever runs 100% smoothly, so when, for example, the copy machine started to be troublesome, Gilda was always available to help me out: she never was too busy for me, a harried teacher fighting with technology.

The pandemic came, the school closed, and Gilda started work somewhere else. I returned to the school with a much diminished student population as the only teacher on campus. I love working with my students, joining forces with them on their journey towards proficiency in English. I feel I owe much to Gilda who presented me with this wonderful opportunity to
meet my students three times weekly to be ‘Teacher.’ (That’s my name in school). I say thanks to Gilda and to my ever-loving students for this chance at doing something so good in this difficult world.”

FROM L.R., PhD – “If you are an immigrant struggling with the complicated and challenging system of being accepted, legally and psychologically, into the U.S., it would be very much worth your time and energy to ask Gilda for advice and support. I have known her since we worked together in Tokyo 25 years ago, and throughout her difficult-to-successful journey as an immigrant, living in Florida.

Gilda took the lemons given her – by the government, charities, employers, and even family and friends – and turned them into delicious and multi-flavored lemonade! She is smart, skilled, confident, courageous, creative, driven, empathetic, caring, resourceful, persuasive, resilient and with a heart of gold. She knows how to clarify problems, identify opportunities, figure out solutions, overcome barriers, speak truth to power, keep going when the going gets tough, and persevering until the client wins.

Gilda gets results for overwhelmed and frustrated immigrants, not by magic (although it sometimes may seem that way), by bonding with her clients, determining a strategy for success, and making things happen at times against formidable odds. She is particularly helpful with female immigrants, and when children are involved, as she herself has dealt with these specific and sensitive issues.  I recommend you partner with Gilda to transform yourself and perhaps your family from immigrant to citizen status in America.”

FROM E.J. – “Gilda is a natural educator. I worked with her at The Women’s Circle, and the students there loved and respected her, as did the volunteers. Her intelligence, compassion, and dedication are outstanding. Gilda is somebody you want in your life.”

FROM J.R. – “I have known Gilda Galdo for several years. She is a wonderful educator and mentor to professional immigrants seeking support and resources in their new country. Gilda is so kind to volunteer to help those who face the challenges of immigrating to a new country and bettering their lives. I highly recommend Ask Gilda!”

FROM A.O. – “During the pandemic, Gilda Galdo adopted me and open her apartment for me to stay in without any cost. She’s like a second mother to me. We also worked together for almost 2 years and we had a good relationship. You can always count on her. She’s always the best of anything.”
